Broken Water Pipes

Are you familiar with water pipes in a house freezing and bursting in the winter as result of improper insulation or installation, or the lack of proper heat in the house?  This can be devastating to a house damaging walls, floors, floor coverings,  due to the frozen water pipes bursting when they thaw.

There were broken water pipes and leaks in the upstairs and downstairs bathrooms. This photo is only a very, very small view of the damage.  Much of the bathroom floor upstairs had to be cut out and removed, as did the walls and ceilings below all the way to the basement.

I chose not to take photos of all that mess before and during the repair process.  In part, because it was difficult for me to climb around the mess to take photos.
